Lifecycle Definitions Conversion in v5.2

Building Lifecycle Applications for v5.0

In v5.2, Lifecycles are now developed and configured using the new Lifecycle Definitions editor in the DocuNECT Web Designer menu. In order to expand the functionality, and scalability, we have changed the architecture. Review this page to learn how to convert your existing lifecycles and use the new connectors.

The New Connectors

Lifecycles definitions, created using the old Lifecycle Editor were processed using the following connectors:

  • Lifecycle Connector - Manages the lifecycle capture and distribution definition rules.
  • Document Processor - Manages the document processing (batch state transition, OCR, data extraction and manipulation).

The Document Processor connector remains the same but there is now are dedicated Document Capture and Document Distribution connectors that gives more scheduling independence and scalability options.

Can I Convert Every Lifecycle?

If your lifecycle definition uses the following capture or distribution methods then you would continue using the older Lifecycle Definition/Connectors:

  • OpenText AppXtender using the older COM based SDK. Note, the newer REST API is now supported under the new connector architecture.
  • Documentum Content Server using the older COM based SDK. Note, the newer REST API is now supported under the new connector architecture.
