Installing and Configuring DocuNECT v5.0


This section provides an implementation checklist to help plan your implementation for installing the DocuNECT server v5.0:

Before You Begin

1. Select the DocuNECT implementation model by reviewing the DocuNECT Technical Architecture page.

2. Review the Component Compatibility page to ensure that the target environment meets the necessary specifications.

3. The target server(s) must have the Microsoft .NET Framework (v4.5) installed (if not already present). A link to the foundation classes can be found in the Downloads page.

4. The target server(s) must have the Microsoft C++ 2010 Redistributable. A link to the download can be found in the Downloads page.

5. Consult the implementation guides for the ContentConnectors you are going to implement, and for any additional implementation requirements or considerations.

6. Remove all previous versions of the DocuNECT product.

7. Log in as the local server administration rights to install the server product.


Run the Install for the DocuNECT Content Migration Server

The following points provides a step-by-step guide to installing the Server product:

1. Locate the .msi file which can be downloaded from the Downloads page. Once located, double-click on the file to initiate the install wizard. Note, in v5.0 there is only a 64 bit edition available.

2. Once the install wizard is initiated a welcome screen will be displayed.

3. After pressing the Next button the installation folder screen is displayed. It is recommended to select the defaults, but the location of the installation files can be changed. Upon pressing the Next button, the confirm installation screen is displayed.

4. On pressing the Next button, the files will be installed.

Note: The service installs in Automatic mode. If a problem occurs registering the service, then re-install the .NET framework.

5. A screen will be displayed confirming that the installation is complete.

6. To confirm installation confirm that a service called DocuNECT Server exists by reviewing the windows services admin.

Run the Install for the DocuNECT Lifecycle Capture Server

The following points provides a step-by-step guide to installing the Server product:

1. Locate the .msi file which can be downloaded from the Downloads page. Once located, double-click on the file to initiate the install wizard. Note. make sure the pre-requisites are installed before installing Lifecycle Server, which can be found on the downloads page. or in a folder called postinstall in the DocuNECT Server program files folder.

2. Install the DocuNECT Lifecycle Capture Server in the same location as the DocuNECT Server.


CM Server Service Account

The services install with the local system account as the service account. The service account only needs to be changed if one of the following situation occurs:

1. One of the functions of the server is to manage the storage locations. If the storage is setup to use a remote storage then change the service account to an account that has the appropriate access.

2. The server also manages the execution of the ContentConnectors. The service account only needs to be changed if the connector requires access to external resources.


Port Information

The services utilizes port 7001 for all communication.
